IMPORTANT NOTES FOR 1911 SHOOTERS

For 1911 shooters, we will also pre-fit your personal system at no additional charge at time of order. Please let us know the manufacturer of your 1911 when ordering, and if historically important, we will e-mail you a diagram for you to provide critical measurements that may be unique to certain models from our extensive experience. (Examples, in no particular order, RRA, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Sig GSR, S&W 1911, Rock Island, STI, Charles Daly.)

Our Recoil Management Systems, when implemented in the 1911 platform, are infinitely tuneable. We will set up your basic system to best meet your indicated use and load range, and you then "fine tune" it with our chrome silicon recoil springs for your personal "feel" / performance / competition preferences.

NOTES FOR PRODUCTION CLASS SHOOTERS

If you are a Competition Shooter competing with Minor PF Loads, please contact us prior to placing your order. We have the ability to set our systems up in advance for Production Class, as well as qualifying IDPA Divisions.

Q: What is the difference between the standard model and the COR-BON model for my gun?

A: The COR-BON model utilizes a stronger subspring in order to compensate for hot, +P+ loads. A shooter should only use a COR-BON recoil reducer if he/she intends to exclusively shoot MAXIMUM POWER FACTOR +P+ ammo. The .40 Super, .45 Super, .400 COR-BON, and full house 10mm loads would also fit into this category. If you are using one of the fine Clark .460 1911 Rowland Conversion packages, special considerations apply, and we have a designated system for use with their conversion package.

While the standard model Recoil Reducer will function flawlessly using hot ammo, this does not reciprocate. Tame factory loads will not always cycle the COR-BON model Recoil Reducer, and you may have function problems. Keep in mind that the standard system will noticeably reduce recoil and muzzle flip when using hot ammo, but not as effectively as the COR-BON models as they would in the limited number of actual applications where they are appropriate. In summary, if you are going to be shooting a wide range of power factor loads, order the standard system. If you are shooting hand cannon loads EXCLUSIVELY, go with the COR-BON system. When in doubt, or even CONSIDERING in minor caliber pistols, PLEASE give us a call first!

Q: I already use, or am considering using an aftermarket compensated (ported) barrel in my pistol. Does this change anything in the function of my pistol when using your "Recoil Management Systems?"

A: YES.Using a ported or compensated barrel changes the entire dynamic of designing a compatible and complimentary Recoil Management System. We will cheerfully consult and work with you to come up with a design that will function reliably and enhance the performance of your pistol. It could conceivably take more than one experimental attempt to get it right from long distance, but we enjoy the challenge of "long distance engineering!" (We only request that you cover the cost of shipping for additional versions.)

Q: Should I use aftermarket polymer shock buffers in addition to your system?

A: In general circumstances, NO. Use of polymer or nylon shock buffers in any other pistol except for 5" 1911's is absolutely discouraged, as they will cause the slide to "short-stroke" and introduce failures to feed.

While unnecessary due to the use of our secondary spring design used for your individual 1911 system, it is always imperative to understand that the use of shock buffers in ANY 1911 pistol changes the effective "solid Height" of the recoil spring, and unless compensated for, will cause the recoil spring to become overstressed and shorten the duty cycle of the spring.
